Plan:
I will create an illustrated map of their national animals, and the mythological animals that apply to their countries.

I have to find out the myths behind the animals, and observe their connection towards the history and the current lifestyle of the nations. 

Several countries will be linked by the sharing of similar animal motifs, it has very much to do with the geography and history, for example wars and conquests that led to the indoctrination of certain cultures and religion. For this section, I will have to transgress beyond Asia, as the roots of the myth may have come from beyond.
It is also interesting to note that, however, an animal motif could mean different things at different cultures. For example, the nations who are under the Judeo-Christian belief system would perceive snakes differently from the Hinduism and Buddhism veneration of the snake deities Naga.

A single animal motif has many facets to it, and why these facets are attributed to them, I wish to find out.

I do reckon that many of us have them in our heads, but just had some difficulties putting them through onto our blogs.  So in this post I am going to try clarify my intentions.

My intended research will evolve along the lines of spatial division in my living place; nature vs urban.

Questions:
1)To what extent are people comfortable with nature, be it greenery or animals in our living conditions?
2)What makes a place ‘urban’ and what are the taboos that might disrupt the identity of a given space?
3)What makes a place a natural conservatory and how far have we challenged the notion of nature in an attempt to control it? Does it make it an oxymoron?
4)What are the artistic depictions of nature found in the local urban areas?
5)Why is there a need to have them in the first place?
6)Does it come from an innate need to co-exist with nature yet keeping it under control?
7)Can be boundaries be challenged by creating awareness and opening up the idea of co-existence to the public?
8)What are the local religion & education system’s takes on the preservation of nature?

In gist, that’s my research proposal.

Design, design, design!

The z** person wanted my kittens, upon requesting that I should be allowed access into the kittens’ training sessions and living quarters, she said that she has gotten enough kittens for the cat show.

Where is the transparency? Demand it, people.

She won a Merit award at Cat Welfare Society’s Cats’ Night Out.
20 points were allocated in the costume category.
Sewn her a floral collar for her in shades of blue and lined it with Swarovski crystals.
But the most beautiful thing about her is her gentleness and open-heartedness towards human beings.

Frida was found abandoned at a parking lot.
I need to find her a home.
She is helpless out there.

I am touched and very impressed by Cat Welfare Society’s efforts in educating people about the beauty of our domestic short hair breed.
I am for it, and would love to be part of this effort.
You don’t need a pedigreed pet to be able to love, really.

Yesterday, I went to help out this old lady with a friend. She has 80 rescued cats and was wrongfully evicted from the cattery.
We clipped their claws, medicated them, wiped their faces and cleaned their ears. A few youths came in and asked many questions. They wanted to help, but ended up being very annoying and disinterested.
Many thought that visiting a rescue pound is like visiting a petting zoo.
It is in fact, the very opposite. They are there because some people do not want them in ‘their’ territories.

We need some public education for the youths.
They asked, why aren’t they released out to be strays? It’s here or death, I told them, many has been rescued from culling.
Why the punishment? Because of residents’ petty complaints.

V from CWS mentioned that she would like to create a little manual to be distributed to as many people as possible. The manual would contain illustrations (done by me?) and instructions as to how to deter cats from trespassing your property, in a humane way of course.
We are also interested in creating a series of educational materials and posters available for caregivers to download off the net.

Isn’t it a wonder that in this 21st century, we, the civilized beings, cannot even find our own means to keep a cat from ‘annoying’ us? The level of tolerance is way too low!  What most people do is to simply call the TCs to complain. What usually happens is that the authorities would send pest controllers to trap the cats to be culled. Not every complainant would know that, we assume. And we hope that if the public had known about the eventual fates of these cats, they would think twice before making that complaint.

We need a little more love and tolerance.

Don’t call us the crazy cat ladies.
We are not cat-lovers. Its a prejudicial term, like n*gg*r lovers.
We are just doing what is right.

Oh, and besides, I like dogs too, except you, bitch.

This is the skeleton of it, I am sure that I have to refine my ideas bit by bit.
For now, I want to keep creating illustrations that shows the love between people and animals, and hopefully illustrations that move people to help the needy.
I have been working on animal welfare merchandises, so why not do what I love to do from the start + LEVEL UP?
